Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information ReelMatch ("we", "us") collects and how we use it. It is written for users in the United States and Canada, including Canadian residents covered by PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25, and US residents covered by state privacy laws such as California's CCPA/CPRA, Virginia's VCDPA, Colorado's CPA, and Texas's TDPSA.

1. Information We Collect

You provide directly

  • Account info: email, password (hashed), display name, account type (creator or company).
  • Profile info: bio, photos, videos, social links, niche, location (city/region).
  • Payment info: handled by Stripe; we receive only metadata (last 4, brand, status), never full card numbers.
  • Messages and content you post or send through the platform.

Collected automatically

  • Device info: browser type, OS, IP address, approximate location derived from IP.
  • Usage data: pages viewed, features used, referrer.
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To match creators with brands and process invite-code connections.
  • To process payments, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms.
  • To send transactional emails (account, billing, security) and, with consent, marketing emails.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. Legal Bases (where applicable)

We rely on: performance of our contract with you, your consent (for marketing and optional features), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement), and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

  • Service providers: Stripe (payments), Supabase / Cloudflare (hosting), email delivery, analytics — bound by contracts to protect your data.
  • Other users: profile data you choose to make visible. Creator profiles are blurred by default; visibility depends on plan and accepted invite codes.
  • Legal: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, and property.
  • Business transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
  • We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined under CCPA/CPRA.

5. Your Rights

All users

  • Access, correct, or delete your account data from your profile settings.
  • Export your data — request via privacy@reelmatchagency.com.
  • Withdraw marketing consent at any time.

Canadian residents (PIPEDA & Quebec Law 25)

  • Right to access and correct your personal information.
  • Right to withdraw consent (subject to legal/contractual restrictions).
  • Quebec residents: right to data portability and to be informed of automated decision-making.
  • Complaints: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

US state residents (CCPA/CPRA and similar)

  • Right to know what categories of personal info we collect, use, and disclose.
  • Right to delete personal info we hold about you.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal info.
  • Right to opt-out of sale/sharing (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioural ads).
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
  • Submit requests to privacy@reelmatchagency.com. We will verify your identity before acting.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal info for as long as your account is active, then up to 24 months for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution purposes, after which we delete or anonymize it. Backups roll off within 90 days of deletion.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS/HTTPS in transit, encrypted storage, hashed passwords, role-based access, and database row-level security. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Transfers

Our infrastructure and service providers operate in Canada and the United States. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed in both countries and may be subject to law-enforcement requests in either jurisdiction.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact privacy@reelmatchagency.com and we will delete it.

10. Changes

We will update this policy as our practices evolve. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email.
